How big is the problem? VERY BIG! Over 3.4 billion quart sized motor oil bottles are sold every year in the United States alone. On average, 4% of the oil is left in each discarded oil bottle (That's about 1.28 oz. per bottle). The oil that's left in all these bottles amounts to more than 3 Valdez oil spills. That's a really big problem! Named by Gerard Forgnone to honor his late father, Bob Forgnone. Each unit holds five oil bottles, and the units can be connected together for more oil bottle capacity.
As we show you below, BOB allows you to get ALL the oil out of your plastic oil bottles. This gives you full value for your purchase and prevents landfill pollution at the same time. BOB can be mounted on table tops, as shown above left, or hung from any type of wall, as shown above right, such as pegboard, wood, plaster, or metal. The same two plastic pieces make both configurations. Please think for a moment about this. About 4% to 5% of the contents of each of these plastic bottles doesn't come out unless you hold the bottle upside down for at least one hour. This becomes a big problem when you consider that in the United States ALONE, there are over 3.43 BILLION (that's 3,400 million!) of these bottles produced EVERY YEAR. This means that as a country, the United States is throwing away approximately 3 1/2 Exxon Valdez oil spills worth of perfectly good, clean, usable motor oil into the trash every year. Where does OUR trash go? It goes into local landfills, which means that the oil is going there too, if folks don't drain the bottles completely. The main reason so few #2 HDPE plastic oil bottles get recycled is because of that 1-2 ounces of oil still in the bottle when we send it to the recycler. After the recycler grinds up the plastic, it is put through a water-based detergent solution, which gets fouled up by the petroleum. We need to clean our bottles out before we send them to the recycler or landfill. The best way to do this is with BOB...since we get to keep the clean oil in addition!
